Artwork and Concept description:
'Dory said SWIM' is about exposing oneself and getting out of their comfort zone. And this is what my work is about. I donÕt have much experience in sculpture and it was a choice that was quite hard to make. One of my favourite movie quotes that i live by was said by a character in Finding Nemo . Some of you may know this. it is Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. by Dory. This quote is about how sometimes we are faced with huge and overwhelming setbacks, and there is no end in sight. And by remembering this quote, Just keep swimming can help us to take steps forward however possible, persevere in the smallest ways, and distract us from the reality of the circumstance. If you would take a look at the bottom, this was my first positive casting that i did after the negative. The reason why it broke was because the plaster was too thin and not thick enough. The other two subsequent casts were better and as i did more i got used to the process. The contrast of the two warm and cool colours represents the setbacks that i have faced and how i overcame them. the ribs of the muscled body is emerging out of the picture frame represents the act of going out of my comfort zone.
